CURED Documentary Logo Described as “fascinating” (Hollywood Reporter), “striking” (USA Today), and “astonishingly rich...one of the best documentaries of this or any year” (British Film Institute) – and a winner in the 2020 Library of Congress Lavine/Ken Burns Prize for Film – CURED takes viewers inside the David-versus-Goliath battle that led the American Psychiatric Association (APA) to remove the diagnosis of “homosexuality” from DSM-II in 1973. The film spotlights the protests, panels and internal debates through which APA members considered whether homosexuality should be classified as a psychiatric diagnosis.
