    Awards for Advancing Minority Mental Health Application

    The 2023 application cycle is now closed. Applicants will be notified of decisions in early March.

    Award recipients will receive an award check in the amount of $5,000, a plaque, and recognition in APA/APAF publications and websites. In addition, Award recipients will be recognized at an APAF event during the 2024 APA Annual Meeting in New York.

    Eligibility and Requirements

    Mental health and wellness organizations are welcome to apply, as well as programs which:

    • Raise awareness of mental illness in under-served minority communities, the need for early recognition, the availability of treatment and how to access it, and the cultural barriers to treatment.
    • Increase access to quality mental health services for under-served minority communities.
    • Improve the quality of care for under-served minority populations, particularly those in the public health system or with severe mental illness.
    • Have been operational for at least two (2) years.

    Past award recipients are ineligible, unless applying for recognition of a new initiative, achievement, or program.
